The Privacy Policy of the Folded Flag Foundation

The Folded Flag Foundation (the "Foundation") respects and is committed to protecting your privacy. We pledge that we will take reasonable steps to ensure that the information we receive from you will only be used in ways that are in compliance with this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy sets out the kinds of information the Foundation may collect, how it is used and the conditions under which it is made available to third parties.

The Foundation may change this policy from time to time. We may notify of any changes by updating this policy, the homepage and other places we deem appropriate. We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, so you should check the website and this policy from time to time to ensure you are aware of any changes. This Privacy Policy is only in effect for information collected by the Foundation and is not applicable to any other web pages, social media sites, applications, email lists or information collected and/or owned by any entity other than the Foundation.

What information we may collect

The purpose of the Foundation website is to provide information on and facilitate participation in the Foundation's mission. To that end, the Foundation collects personally identifiable information to facilitate support of and participation in the Foundation's programs, including its scholarship program. We may collect the following information from you:

  • Name
  • Contact information including address, phone number and email address
  • Additional information, such as Social Security number, date of birth, marital status, as well as employment, school enrollment, income and familial information, may be collected for scholarship applicants in order to confirm eligibility for their participation in the Folded Flag Foundation scholarship program.

What we do with the information we collect

We require this information for one or more of the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping
  • To facilitate participation in our programs and to provide services to you
  • To improve our programs and services

Under no circumstances will the Folded Flag Foundation share information gathered with any third party organization.

Security of your information

The Foundation is committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place reasonable physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to secuire the information we collect.

Information from children

We do not collect personal information from any person that we know to be under the age of thirteen (13). Specifically, the Foundation website is not intended for children under the age of thirteen (13) that are unaccompanied by his or her parent or legal guardian. While we welcome the interest of children under the age of thirteen (13) in the Folded Flag Foundation scholarship program, the Foundation requires that a parent or guardian complete and submit the scholarship forms on behalf of the child. Personal information provided on the scholarship forms will not be used for any other purpose.

By using the website, you affirm that you are either more than 18 years of age, or an emancipated minor, or possess legal parental or guardian supervision and consent, and are fully able and competent to enter into the terms, conditions, obligations, affirmations, representations, and warranties set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Parents should be aware that this Privacy Policy will govern our use of personal information, but also that information that is voluntarily given by children - or others - in email exchanges, bulletin boards or the like may be used by other parties to generate unsolicited communications. The Foundation encourages all parents to instruct their children in the safe and responsible use of their personal information while using the Internet.

However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that ww do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide while visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this Privacy Policy. Our Mission

The Foundation intends to award scholarships or other educational grants to or for the benefit of the un-remarried spouses and dependent children of United States military personnel who have lost their lives as a result of hostile or terrorist action or as a result of a non-hostile battle death as defined by the Department of Defense.
