Today is Universal Children’s Day! This holiday was established in 1954 by the United Nations. It is celebrated on November 20 because this date has been significant for children’s rights around the world many times. On Nov. 20, 1959, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which is an international document promoting child rights. Then on Nov. 20, 1989, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a human rights treaty called the Convention on the Rights of the Child which sets out the civil, political, economic, social, health and cultural rights of children.

Universal Children’s Day is a day to promote togetherness, awareness and support for improving children’s lives across the world. It encourages all to take time to promote the welfare of children on a global scale and work to better the world for children. This year, Universal Children’s Day is going blue to make sure all children reach their full potential by being able to attend school safely.

The Folded Flag Foundation works to help ensure children of fallen heroes reach their full potential by offering educational grants and scholarships. #GoBlue today for Universal Children’s Day and donate to The Folded Flag Foundation to support children in Gold Star Families getting an education that will help provide them with a better future.
